Cape Cod House Plans

Cape Cod house plans are traditionally one to one-and-a-half story homes which feature steep dormered roofs with side gables and a small overhang. Cape Cod house plans emerged in New England in the late 17th Century and remained popular through the mid 1800's. Cape Cod house plans generally have a rectangular frame covered in clapboard or shingles, a straight unadorned ridge roof, and a massive, centrally located chimney that is in line with the front entrance. Cape Cod house plans are also designed with multi-paned, double-hung windows, shutters, a formal, center-hall floor plan, and hardwood floors.
