The Fairhope Green Home Project is Alabama's first National Association Of Home Builders "Green Certified" home. Built in Meadows of Point Clear in Fairhope, Alabama, just minutes from Mobile Bay and downtown Fairhope. Builder Jeremy Friedman and designer Bob Chatham teamed up to design and build this earth friendly cottage. Their goal was to introduce easy methods for building "Green" while staying within normal construction budgets. One of the most unique features of this home the heavy timber mantel, made from a pecan tree located where the house now sits. Recycling is an important part building green, and many people are now looking at ways to use the lumber from clearing their lot back into the house. Beams, mantels, floors and columns are just some of the ways to use the lumber from the home site.
